The technology wave is the main factor affecting development in today's world, and achieving the desired growth depends on employing all technological potentials of scientific and economic improvements throughout the globe. According to the document of The 20-year Development Outlook, by the year 2030 the country’s economy will rely on the knowledge which would be contingent on knowledge-based productions and industries; and achieving this goal depends on the establishment of knowledge-based firms, run by graduates of educational centers and universities.

Along the same lines, generating a competitive atmosphere in research is considered one of the critical measures which must be accomplished by enjoying the support of non-governmental and cooperative sectors on the part of knowledge-based companies and their assistance for increasing knowledge in the country. Based on the global experience, Science and Technology Parks are known and utilized as an infrastructure for achieving scientific and technological development in different countries.

In order to convert knowledge to wealth, The Science and technology Park of the University of Tehran has been established to commercialize research results and to found a technological network between the industry and the university by providing adequate services in each field. This task is executed by means of the capacities and capabilities of the University of Tehran and the Park along with creating and transferring technology, enhancing an innovative culture in the country, and promoting interactions between the university and the industry.
